Cornell Soccer Camps


Cornell soccer camps offer three camps each for boys and girls ages 7-18. The soccer camps are held at Cornell University Campus in Ithaca, New York and are directed by Cornell's experienced head, assistant and specialty coaches.

Danielle La Roche - Director, Trainer
(Cornell Head Coach, )

Danielle La Roche, Cornell's Women's Head Coach received a Bachelor of Arts in African-American Studies from the University of Maryland where she also played on the Women's Soccer Team. After receiving her degree, Coach La Roche spent four years at One Touch Soccer Academy where she organized 28 adult and youth programs and directed 35 soccer camps. La Roche then spent time coaching for the US Soccer Olympic Development Program and then onto coaching at Binghamton University and Howard University. La Roche came to Cornell University in 2006 after being the assistant coach at George Mason University. Coach La Roche holds many coaching certificates and licenses, including a USSF National A License.
Jaro Zawislan - Director, Trainer

Jaro Zawislan graduated from Clemson in 1993. During his time as a player and student at Clemson, he helped lead his team to a 3-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference and 4-time All-South Region Selection in addition to MVP in 1993 ACC Tournament. During his career at Clemson, Zawislan set records for career saves, single-season saves, wins by a goalkeeper and career starts. He was also a 2-time All-Academic Honoree. After graduating from Cornell, Coach Zawislan played professionally for the USA and Poland and then onto coach Nebraska Olympic Development Programs Open U-23 team and Nebraska state ODP Goalkeepers. Zawislan then coached and played at the Canadian Soccer Academy and helped to coach with the Columbia Heat of USISL. In 2001, Coach Zawislan went to coach fpr Creighton and led them to be a national runner-up champion in 2000. He also lead the goalkeepers to 22 victories and in coaching just three seasons, posted nation's best goals-against average in 1999. After Creighton, Zawislan then moved to coach at Stanford as the assistant coach and goalie coach. In his time coaching at Stanford, he lead his team to semifinals in 2001 and the Pac-10 championship. Coach Zawislan's final stop before coming to Cornell this January was at Syracuse University. At Syracuse, he worked with practice planning, scouting opponents, game preparation, and recruiting. Zawislan's time there was marked by bringing in one of the top 40 recruiting classes in 2003 as stated by collegesoccernews.com.
Joe Schneck - Trainer
(Cornell Assistant Coach, )

Coach Schneck graduated from The College of New Jersey, and helped to coach at TCNJ in 2005 while pursuing a Masters Degree in Athletic Administration. During his time at TCNJ, Schneck was a 4 year letter winner and earned several honors on and off the field. A Dean's List student, Coach Schneck was a recipient of the Dr. Harold Eichoff Outstanding Senior Scholarship Athlete Award as the top senior male scholar-athlete. Schneck earned a spot on the 2003 National Soccer Coaches Association of America and was a co-captain during his senior year where he collected 49 points of 74 games on 17 goals and 15 assists.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the registration schedule for the first day of camp?
Registration will be held on the ground floor of Robert Purcell Community Center. After check-in, a camper orientation will be held, and then the counselors will take campers to the first instructional session.
What are your facilities?
The Friedman Center, a state-of-the art strength and conditioning facility, the Jessup and Alumni practice fields, McGovern Field – manicured natural turf, Schoellkopf Stadium – FieldTurf surface, Ramin Room – indoor turf, dining halls, swimming pools and other athletic training areas include all of the Cornell facilities used for the soccer camps.
Who are the camp counselors?
The campers will spend time with their counselors on and off the field. The camp counselors are college soccer players from Cornell and other universities.
What should campers bring?
Campers should bring sunscreen, a water bottle and all necessary soccer gear (shin guards, cleats, turf shoes, other work out gear). All resident campers should bring a pillow, blanked, bed linens and an alarm clock.
How do campers get there?
If arriving at the Ithaca airport or bus station, a staff member can pick up the campers. To do this, you must notify us THREE WEEKS before the camp starts in writing and include arrival mode, date and time. We do not pick up from any other airports or bus stations and there will be a $25 round trip fee for the service.
What will campers receive for going to Cornell Soccer Camps?
Campers will receive a FREE camp t-shirt and Cornell soccer ball. Campers of the Super 60 camps will receive a FREE reversible Cornell jersey, a camp t-shirt and a Nike soccer ball.
