Welcome back! After 35 plus years of camps, the Connecticut College Soccer Camps are better than ever!
The directors have designed each camp to meet the needs of each given age group and ability level. With the players’ best interests in mind, the camps will provide a competitive learning environment where players will be challenged to improve their skill and knowledge of the game, all while having fun.
The friendly and knowledgeable staff is hand-picked to best serve each camp’s goals. | Staff Biographies | |  | Kenny Murphy - Camp Director (Head Coach Men's Soccer, Connecticut College)
Kenny Murphy, a former assistant soccer coach at Brown University, was named Head Men's Soccer Coach at Connecticut College in June of 2009. In his first year with the Camels, Murphy led the team to its first winning season since 1997 and first winning record in NESCAC play since the inception of the Championship format. Murphy also coaches in the USSF Developmental Academy with the South Central Premier U16 team.
In his six years at Brown, Murphy helped the team earn four NCAA Tournament berths, capturing three Ivy League Championship crowns along the way.
Murphy played collegiately at the University of Connecticut where he captained the Huskies his senior year and contributed to 3 NCAA tournament appearances He was also a 3-time all-conference selection and 2-time All-New England selection.
Murphy was drafted by both the Detroit Express, (NASL), and the Hartford Hellions, (MISL). Subsequently, he played for the Express and Washington Diplomats of the North American Soccer League. While in D.C., Murphy played alongside the Dutch Master, Johan Cruyff.
Murphy has over 15 years of youth coaching experience, coaching both boys and girls at all youth levels. He holds a USSF B License and an NSCAA Premier Diploma.
|  | Winnie Edmed - Camp Director (Former Head Coach Women's Soccer, Connecticut College)
Winnie Bing Edmed was Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer program at Connecticut College for 5 seasons. She is now stepping down to spend more time with her 2 young kids, Caeli and Sam. Edmed will continue as Co-Director of CC Co-ed Soccer Camp and Director of CC Premier for the summer of 2011. After serving as the interim head coach for two seasons, Edmed directed the Camels to an appearance in the 2007 New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship (NESCAC) in her first full season at the helm. The Camels took a significant step forward in the standings, notching league victories against Bates and Wesleyan with one of the youngest teams in the region.
Edmed returned to her roots with the Camel soccer program and the NESCAC after spending six years as the lead assistant coach from 1997-2003. Under the direction of former Camel coach Ken Kline, Edmed played a lead role in developing a program into a national contender and helped guide the Camels to three post-season appearances. In 1998, Connecticut College won the Metro Regional Championship and advanced into the NCAA Elite Eight. Connecticut College completed the season ranked #8 in the NSCAA National poll, the highest finish in program history.
Edmed returned to Connecticut College from Mitchell College, where she served as the head women´s soccer coach and senior women administrator. Before joining the staff at Mitchell, Edmed spent one year in the (New England Women and Men´s Athletic Conference) NEWMAC as an assistant women's soccer coach and recruiting coordinator at Babson College. Edmed proved to be one of the most prolific women's soccer players to compete in the Nutmeg State. A native of Old Lyme, Connecticut, Edmed was rated the fourth best women's soccer player in the state for the 1991 season by the Hartford Courant. She garnered All-New England honors at Keene State College before returning home to receive her bachelor's degree at Eastern Connecticut State University in 1999.
Edmed holds her National diploma in coaching from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Sports Science and Coaching from the United State Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama.
|  | Steve Sawyer - Assistant Director (Assistant Coach Men's Soccer, Connecticut College)
Stephen Sawyer, a 2009 graduate of Brown University, is in his second season as the assistant men’s soccer coach at Connecticut College. Sawyer was a two-year captain and leader in the defensive backfield for the Ivy League power, starting 71 of 72 games in his collegiate career for a program that qualified for the NCAA Championship in three of his four years. He holds the program's record for career minutes played.
Sawyer received numerous athletic accolades at Brown. In his senior year, Sawyer was honored with The Class of 1937 Trophy. The trophy is awarded to the player who contributed the most to the team and is the oldest award the team presents to an honored player. In addition to this team honor, Sawyer was recognized by the Brown athletic department with the Dave Zucconi '55 Award at the conclusion of the 2008-2009 academic year. The award is presented annually to the male varsity athlete who most consistently displays the ideals of sportsmanship and fair play.
Sawyer holds his NSCAA National Diploma and coaches locally for Southeast Soccer Club.
