Cal Soccer Camps - Berkeley

Cal-Berkeley Soccer Camps would like to invite you to their 2009 soccer camps. The coaching staff has the ability to coach, train and develop players. Players are encouraged to reach their full potential by being challenged technically and tactically in a fun environment. Cal-Berkeley Soccer Camps has soccer camps available for boys and girls of all ages and skill levels.

The Cal Coaching staff runs the camps and are assisted by other professional coaches and current and alumni Cal soccer players.
Neil McGuire - Camp Director
(Head Coach of Cal Women's Soccer Team, Berkely, California)

Neil McGuire holds his a Bachelor's degree in psychology, from Augusta State University McGuire earned his Master's of education degree with an emphasis in sports administration in 2003 from Mississippi State. Neil McGuire will be entering his third season as California's head coach after continuing the women's soccer program's tradition of excellence in his first two years. McGuire looks to have the Golden Bears contending for a national title in the near future. Prior to coming to Cal, McGuire was Head Coach at Texas Tech for two years and Mississippi State before that. In his first year, McGuire directed Cal to a 15-5-1 overall record, to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and to a No. 11 national ranking. He holds a number of licenses including his US Soccer National “A” License and also has worked with the Olympic Development Program on many levels, including his current position as U14 Region IV Head Coach. McGuire's professional career includes time with the Falkirk Football Club in Scotland, the Des Moines Menace Professional Soccer Club and the Arizona Sahuaros Professional Soccer Club.
Libby Bassett - Camp Director
(Assistant Women's Soccer Coach, Berkely, California)

Libby Bassett holds her Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of San Diego and her Master’s degree in International Cooperation and Development from the Universita di Pavia in Italy. She played 4 years at USD prior to going abroad to coach, play, and continue her studies. In 2003 and 2005, Bassett trained with two Italian Serie A teams, AC Milan’s women’s team and Fiammamonza. She began her collegiate coaching career at her alma mater and later coached at Saint Mary’s College prior to coming to the University of California, Berkeley.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should campers bring to camp?
All campers should bring a soccer ball, soccer cleats (grass), soccer flats (running/turf), shin guards, a lunch and snack for half and full day campers, sunscreen and a water bottle.
What are your insurance policies?
All camps are insured by Saylor and Hill.
What happens if a camper has to cancel?
Requests for refunds or transfers must be submitted in writing, via e-mail, letter or fax we cannot accept requests by phone. Requests must be received no less than 30 days prior to the first day of camp to qualify for a refund or transfer. Request for refunds or transfers received prior to 30 days before the first day of camp will be processed and assessed a fee. No refunds or transfers are issued for requests received later than 30 days before the start of camp. Camps are not prorated and participant substitutions are not allowed. No refunds are given to campers dismissed for behavioral issues.

Cal Camps take place at Goldman Field, Underhill Field, and Memorial Stadium.
What do campers receive for attending Cal Soccer Camps?
All campers receive a camp t-shirt for attending Cal soccer camp.
